Pricing: simple, with one catch
Krystal's big advantage is that its monthly price does not jump at renewal the way budget hosts' prices do. Pay monthly and £7 is £7. Pay annually and Krystal says you save 16%; pay for two years and you save 25%.
The catch is that the prices shown exclude VAT. If your business is not VAT-registered, the Amethyst plan is £8.40 a month including VAT. Use our hosting cost calculator to compare it with other hosts over three years.
Managed WordPress option
As well as cPanel hosting, Krystal sells managed WordPress hosting on a separate platform. When we checked, plans started at £15 a month for one site (Personal, 20,000 visits, 5GB storage, daily backups), with Business at £35 a month adding hourly backups and a CDN. Krystal offered the first month free and free migration for your first three sites. Managed WordPress plans do not include email mailboxes, which are an optional extra. Support and transparency
Krystal's support team is UK-based and reachable by ticket, live chat and phone. Unusually, it publishes live support statistics on its site, such as ticket volumes, average resolution times and live chat wait times. When we checked, it reported an average live chat wait of 20 minutes over the previous seven days, so phone may be faster for urgent problems.
Sustainability
Krystal is a Certified B Corp and says its data centres run on 100% renewable energy. It also plants a tree each month for every active client. If your business has its own sustainability commitments, this is a genuine point in Krystal's favour.
