Quick answer
- Good fit for: people who want a VPN plus extra security tools, such as anti-malware and a password manager, from one subscription covering 10 devices.
- Watch out for: long plans renew at much higher prices than the introductory deal, and the monthly plan is expensive.
- Price checked 1 November 2026: from £2.69 a month on a two-year Basic plan (£72.63 for the first 27 months), renewing at £104.28 a year; £11.29 a month on monthly billing.
NordVPN prices in the UK
| Plan | Monthly billing | 1-year plan (first 15 months) | 2-year plan (first 27 months) | Renewal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | £11.29 a month | £56.85 (£3.79 a month) | £72.63 (£2.69 a month) | £104.28 a year |
| Complete | £15.09 a month | £67.35 (£4.49 a month) | £80.73 (£2.99 a month) | £163.08 a year |
| Ultimate Max | £17.89 a month | £112.35 (£7.49 a month) | £161.73 (£5.99 a month) | £249.48 a year |
Monthly or long-term: what it costs over three years
The headline prices are only available if you pay for 15 or 27 months upfront, and those plans then renew every year at the renewal price. Here is what the Basic plan would cost over roughly three years on each option, using the prices above:
| Option (Basic plan) | How it adds up | Approximate cost |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly billing for 36 months | 36 × £11.29 | £406.44 |
| 1-year plan, then renewals | £56.85 for 15 months, then two renewals at £104.28 (covers 39 months) | £265.41 |
| 2-year plan, then a renewal | £72.63 for 27 months, then one renewal at £104.28 (covers 39 months) | £176.91 |
The two-year plan is clearly cheapest if you know you will use a VPN for years. The monthly plan only makes sense for short-term needs, such as a trip abroad, or as a way to try NordVPN without committing. NordVPN's 30-day money-back guarantee applies to all three plans, so another approach is to buy a long plan and use the guarantee period to decide. Set a reminder before the renewal date if you do not want it to renew automatically.
What each plan includes
- Basic: the VPN on up to 10 devices at once, plus scam and phishing protection that filters your traffic through NordVPN's DNS servers to block malicious domains while connected.
- Complete: adds anti-malware and browsing protection powered by NordVPN's antivirus (desktop only), an ad and tracker blocker (desktop only), email link scanning for Gmail and Yahoo (desktop only), call protection, message protection (Android only when we checked), dark web monitoring, a password manager and 1TB of encrypted cloud storage.
- Ultimate Max: adds a dedicated IP address that only you use, which can help you avoid repeated captchas, and cyber insurance of up to £5,000 for scams and identity theft recovery, subject to additional terms.
If you were going to pay for a password manager anyway, Complete can be good value, because it bundles one. Compare it with standalone options in our guide to the best password managers for small business.
Network, devices and apps
NordVPN says it runs thousands of servers in 225 locations. Every plan covers 10 devices at the same time, which is enough for most households and sole traders. It has apps for the main desktop and mobile platforms, and specialist server types such as Double VPN and obfuscated servers. We have not run speed tests for this review: speed depends on your connection, device and the server you choose, so use the money-back period to check performance from where you are.
Privacy and where NordVPN is based
NordVPN says it does not log your browsing activity. It has had that claim independently assessed six times: twice by PricewaterhouseCoopers AG Switzerland and, more recently, by Deloitte. NordVPN says Deloitte Lithuania's latest engagement ran from 10 November to 12 December 2025 under the ISAE 3000 (Revised) standard, and concluded that its systems were designed and implemented in line with its no-logs statement. The full report is available to customers who log in. NordVPN says it operates out of Panama. As with any VPN, these are the provider's own statements and point-in-time assessments, so read the terms yourself.
What a VPN will and will not do for you
A VPN encrypts your connection to the VPN server, which protects you on public Wi-Fi, and hides your IP address from the sites you visit. It does not make you anonymous, and it does not stop phishing emails, weak passwords or unpatched software. Using a VPN is legal in the UK, but you are still bound by the law and by the terms of the services you use. For the basics that matter more, see our small business cyber security checklist.
